Melissa Friday is the Heart of Woodland Homes of Huntsville
At the heart of Woodland Homes of Huntsville, you will find Melissa Friday. “Melissa is the heart of the company,” a Woodland Homes of Huntsville employee explains. “She cares about each one of us, and she truly sees us as her Woodland Homes family. Melissa is not only the co-CEO and co-owner of the company; she also acts as the party planner, company chef, employee cheerleader, and star of ‘Dream Home Cooking’.”
Melissa’s responsibilities as co-CEO have changed through the last 15 years, but her passion about Woodland Homes’ success hasn’t wavered. “I enjoy the fact we’re in a business that allows us to help families in our community with the biggest investment of their lives, and I love seeing how proud and happy they are at the end of the home-buying process,” Melissa says. “My position has changed over the last two years. I’m more behind the scenes as a support system for Mike, and I’m mostly CEO of our home and children, Christina and Dillon, right now.”
Although Melissa is modest about her role in the company, she is present at every staff meeting, plans a multitude of company events, and is always willing to roll up her sleeves and help make things happen or take on a new challenge. Currently, Melissa is filming the second season of “Dream Home Cooking with Woodland Homes”. Melissa began this project last year, and after a successful season with great reviews from the public in 2008, she and Mike decided to tackle this project again in 2009.
“The idea of ‘Dream Home Cooking’ was born one night on our porch,” Melissa says. Mike knew how much she loved to cook. While on the porch together that evening, they discussed how great it would be to have a cooking show with Melissa as the chef and film it in the state-of-the-art kitchens in the concept homes within the 13 Woodland Homes communities. In the first season alone, Woodland Homes received more than 200 requests for Melissa’s recipes, and the Dream Home Cooking blog had over 7,000 visitors. “This is just another way we’re branding our company so that people will remember us,” Melissa states. “We actually began filming the second season of ‘Dream Home Cooking’ the first week in April,” she continues. The show begins airing in April on Mediacom, Knology, Comcast, and Channel 19.
Melissa loves being a part of the Huntsville/Madison County community, and she could not imagine a better place to develop a business and raise her family. Woodland Homes continues to grow, and for the last 15 years the Fridays have found much joy and success building beautiful homes for Madison County residents. “I am so proud and thankful to live here. One of the main reasons our business has thrived is because of this beautiful area we chose to build our homes. Mike and I have been a lot of places, and I can honestly say that there is no other city where I’d rather live.”
