Before you throw away an old piece of furniture, call Steve first and let him look at it. The artisan in him will see what the average person does not and the result often gives an old piece more character than when it was new. “Customers are often amazed at the finished product," Steve says. "With its value restored, and sometimes in the case of antiques, its value increased, it is very satisfying to know we saved your fine furniture from the trash heap.”

After 22 years in the U.S. Army, Steve retired as a Sergeant Major (E-9). Along with his wife Corinne, they opened the Furniture Medic franchise in 1994 here in Huntsville. Steve concentrates on the technical side of the business, and Corinne handles administration and customer support. Steve’s passion for woodworking made it an easy decision. “I’ve always been a woodworker and dreamed of having my own woodshop where I could pursue my hobby of over 35 years. I enjoy restoring furniture to its original state,” Steve says.

Their business philosophy is to do the job right with prompt, courteous, and dependable service that saves customers money with touch-up or repairing, as opposed to replacing it. The focus is on customer satisfaction from the time you call Corinne for an appointment until the job’s complete. “More than 90% of our customers are repeats or referrals,” Corinne says. “That says a lot about our business.” Furniture Medic is a member of the Better Business Bureau and is proud of their A+ rating.

Furniture Medic does not advocate stripping and refinishing. Instead, they offer a number of services for residential and commercial customers that include antique and heirloom restoration and repair; hand waxing for fine antiques; re-gluing and stabilizing to repair loose joints in chairs, tables, and beds. They also offer piano finish repair; parts fabrication to repair or replace broken wooden or metal parts; moving damage inspections, estimates, and repairs; image enhancement for commercial customers to touch up business furniture; and a deluxing service for high gloss dining room and conference room tables.
