A Great Place to Do Business
Century Automotive Group is a high-line, luxury automobile
dealership that offers sales, service, parts, and a collision center. Their
specialty, however, is the world-class customer service they offer each person
who walks through their door. This tradition of excellence dates back over
thirty years, and recently the company received national recognition for
excellence and success. Tracy Jones, President of Century Automotive Group was
presented with the 2007 Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year Award. It is a
prestigious award recognizing community service and industry accomplishments for
a new-car dealer.
Tracy was selected from more than 19,500 automobile dealers
nationwide. She is the first woman to win, the youngest person to win, the first
winner from Alabama, and she was chosen for her company’s business excellence
and community involvement. This honor was awarded to Tracy but reflects the high
quality of professionalism exhibited by her long-tenured staff. In addition to
this award being extraordinary for Century Automotive Group, it’s also unique to
the Huntsville community. "I am thrilled they saw something special down here in
Huntsville," Tracy states.
Century Automotive Group consists of six dealerships for Buick,
BMW, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Porsche. Tracy and her husband, George, who
is General Manager, direct all the dealerships. With both her father and
grandfather preceding her in the automotive business, Tracy says, "This is what
I have always wanted to do. It’s in my blood."
The company’s success is attributed to its team members. "We
are successful because we have great employees," Tracy comments. "When we take
good care of our employees, then our employees take good care of our customers,
and this results in the community being well served."
She continues, "We have a different approach to business and
are selective in our hiring process. We are looking for EAGLE employees…those
who are enthusiastic, attitude friendly, goal oriented, loyal, and ethical. We
treat our staff like family—a performance family. We expect a lot and have high
standards. We have 130 employees who are willing to do what other people aren’t
willing to do, and that’s what makes us different."
As a result of employees’ efforts, Century Automotive Group
ranks at the top in the BMW Customer Satisfaction Inventory (CSI) every year.
CSI is an evaluation on sales, service, and the overall administration of the
dealership. At 12 years, Century Automotive Group is the longest running dealer
to enjoy this honor. George comments, "Our employees are committed to being the
best. We want to win the Super Bowl every year, not just play in the
playoffs."
As natives of Huntsville, Tracy and George are Huntsville High
School sweethearts and have been working together for 22 years. "We live here
and raise our four children here," Tracy states. "That is why we believe in
being good to this community through our business. We understand and accept our
role in this community and the obligations it requires."
The company supports numerous organizations, including the
Huntsville Hospital Foundation, the Huntsville Museum of Art, and the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, among others. Last year, more than 600
participants came to the dealership’s annual "Drive to the Cure" event, which
benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
"I don’t just see us as a car dealership," Tracy states. "We’re
more than that. We’re a great place to do business with and we strive to make a
difference in this world."
